Yorktown

The kids wanted to go to Busch Gardens again today, but we decided 12 hours was enough for a weekend.  We went and did a little geocaching near our hotel, that was fun.  Then we went to Yorktown.  Tj hadn't been before, but the kids and I had gone with some friends about 5 years ago.  We didn't stay long the last time we were there, so it was nice to stay and take the tour with the park guide.  He was a hoot!  Sometimes tour guides can be a little dry, so it was great to have one that the kids enjoyed.  Bristol was pretty good, hanging out in her stroller all day again.

The battlefield where the last fight of the Revolutionary War happened.
The kids hanging out with a 6 pounder.

The famous redoubts 9 & 10, seized by French and American soldiers to basically end the war.  Redoubt 10 is basically gone, fallen off the cliff into the water.  The guide said "go get your pictures of redoubt 9 - it'll be gone soon!"  The fun thing was that our earlier geocaching excursion (and we found it!) took us to a park that talked all about redoubts.

We occasionally let Bristol out of her stroller :)

After the battlefield tour and museum we headed over to the Moore House - this is where the treaty was signed to end the war.  The house has been rebuilt.  During the civil war, soldiers stripped the house of the wood for fires!  The house and grounds were just beautiful.

 One of (many) Brenalee's selfies...
Bristol didn't want to leave the house, she left kicking and screaming!  And, she left us a treat and we had to change a diaper in the car - always fun to do that!
We headed back to the hotel for some dinner and swimming.  I forgot Bristol's swimsuit, but remembered her swim diapers.  So, she was without a suit in the pool.

We had to head home Sunday.  What a fun, fun weekend!!  Until next year Williamsburg!
