Church Garden

Our ward decided to have a community garden this year.  In previous years the space at the church was used by individual families to grow their own crops.  This year everyone chipped in to build a fence, plant, weed, and harvest.  Everything went to the Interfaith Food Pantry right here in Blacksburg.  The kids and I went a few times to help with things.  I thought this was such a neat idea and a great way to serve our community!  The kids never complained (well, except Bristol!)

Pioneer Day Celebration

The activity day girls put on the Pioneer Day Celebration again this year at the church.  It started at 7, so I stayed home so Bristol could go to bed.  Her bedtime is 7, so keeping her out until 8:30 would be disastrous to say the least!  Instead of making butter like last year, they made ice cream in a bag this year.  Brena said her's was too salty.  It's really sad to think that we won't be here for this next year.

 Brenalee was happy to be in charge of the yarn dolls again this year.

Arrow of Light

Tyler received his Arrow of Light award tonight.  He has already been in 11 year old scouts for a couple months now, and he is really enjoying it. 

Girls Camp

Last week I got the opportunity to go up to our church girls camp for the week. I was gone Monday-Friday. It was HOT HOT HOT!!! I can't tell you enough how hot it was. We slept in tents and it didn't even cool off at night. There were LOTS of bugs and it was hot - did I mention it was hot? But, we had a great time. I had another leader from church go up with me and it was nice having her there. Here are some pictures - we are definitely not looking our best! I missed my kids and my husband terribly, but it was a good experience and I know the kids didn't even miss me - Grandma was taking too good of care of them. I would call and Tyler would tell me "Mom I have to call you back." My MIL had to leave yesterday morning, so we are missing having Grandma around.

Testimony meetings

I got this email forward from TJ's cousin, it cracked me up and thought I would share it.

If you've ever wanted a child to NOT bear his/her testimony, you’ll appreciate this one!!

At a recent testimony meeting, a five-year-old little girl stood up and bore her testimony.
After mentioning everyone and everything, she was thankful for,
she ended with this: "I am especially grateful that our house has been much happier since our family stopped using The "S-word" and the "F-word." As the little girl proudly walked back to her seat, nobody could say a word. Needless to say, they were a little shocked by what the stake president’s daughter had just said. Quickly, the red-faced stake president stood up, smiled shyly, and went to the podium.
"I feel I should make a clarification as to what my daughter meant.
In our house the "S-word" is S hut-up and the "F-word" is Fart."
