Christmas Cards

When I was growing up, my parents never sent out Christmas cards. I didn't even realize people did that until I was older. I started making our Christmas cards and mailing them out to family and friends about 5 or 6 years ago. I have always hand made the card, always. This year I have been trying for weeks to find a card design I like and want to make 100 times. I still have come up with absolutely nothing I like. So, I can't believe it, but I just ordered Christmas card photos from Walgreens today, boy was that easy and a HUGE weight off my chest! Hopefully I will be back in the swing of things enough next year to make them again, because I truly enjoy doing that. I guess I am just feeling like I have to apologize to everyone for not making them a homemade card this year. But, I am wondering, have you always sent out Christmas cards and did your parents do it too?

You're so funny! :) I can't wait to get your card...even if it's just a photo card! My parents RARELY sent Christmas cards. But it's something we've always done since we've been married. It's definitely one of my favorite traditions. I think part of it is that we so far away from family that it makes us feel apart of the holidays w/ them even if we're not there to celebrate.

I've always sent out cards since I moved out of my parents house. My parents have always sent out cards too, but the past 6 years my mom has handmade hers! But this year I wasn't as on top of things as I usually am. I usually type a letter of what we've been up to this past year, but didn't get that far this year. Hmmm, wonder why?!?!

Since I grew up in Indonesia, cards weren't available but I remember my parents sending out a Christmas letter to what must have been hundreds of people, friends, relatives, supporters etc. So when I got married I started sending out cards to all my "people". Yup, all 10 of them! I guess I need to make more friends. *hehe* I usually buy them. I'm not creative like you in that department. Since I have "so many" people to send to each year, I end up using half a box of cards. After about 10 years I start shuffling the leftover cards and using them up hoping no one will remember receiving any particular card from me in the past. It's the though that counts, really. There are some friends from high school that I keep in touch wih just through that yearly Christmas card.

This makes me feel so much better!! I haven't gotten ONE Christmas card yet this year & it sounds like everyone is just running late & didn't forget ME!! :o) I used to send out Christmas cards & I plan to do it every year, but something always happens & I never get around to it! I hope someday to have time to do it again, let alone make them!!!

You make me laugh! I have seriously thought you were crazy for making all of those! My parents always sent cards by the 100's so it seemed natural for me to do the same. We made the switch to the "obnoxious" letter about 5 years ago when some friends, who will remain nameless, started sending us 3 page letters detailing their perfect lives and perfect children. You know the type! I love receiving cards and it's a big part of our Christmas tradition. Thx for letting us bombard you with ours for the past 10 or so years.....

I've always wondered why people get stressed around the holidays. Congratulations on cutting back on the to-do list!
