I have been trying to get this baby gift finished for over a month now. I finally was able to sit down and do it. Oh how I LOVE this quilt. Isn't it gorgeous??!! It measures 40"x50". It's from Moda's Chez Moi's Hunky Dory line. The pattern if from AmandaJean here.
I love the back - I added an extra strip of coins to make the back more interesting.

Back to school
Today was the day. Tyler said he wanted to go back to school. Brena never even considered staying home to homeschool. I let them go back. I don't know if I made the right decision. I guess we'll find out. I got their backpacks packed, their lunches made and took them to the bus stop.
Waiting for the bus.
The bus came and I swear Brena ran over there faster than I could even get my camera out to get a picture of her getting on the bus! She cut in front of all those kids and didn't even look back to wave! I just barely caught the back of her stepping up on the bus! I couldn't believe it. I teared up a bit over that. I mean you do everything for your kids, then all of a sudden just because this big yellow bus shows up - they get on and leave you without a second thought??!! That's just not right!
So I went to Target and roamed around there, then went to the commissary. all. by. myself. and it was awesome. ♥♥♥

Football - Jag's opening game
Our neighbors called to see if we wanted their Jaguar vs. Miami tickets for last night. They couldn't use them. We decided that TJ would take Tyler. I've never been to a NFL game, and I would have liked to go. We thought Tyler would have more fun though. The game was supposed to start at 7:30p.m. TJ and Tyler got down to the stadium and the game got delayed because of all the lightning we had been having. The game didn't even end up starting until 9pm! The boys stayed for the entire first quarter and then TJ decided they needed to leave because it was so late. Tyler was upset - he wanted to stay the entire game. I'm glad he had a good time despite the rain and delays.

Brenalee's 5th birthday
My baby turned 5! We picked up our neighbor friends and went to a Chuck E. Cheese like place. That's all Brena wanted to do - go to Chuck E. Cheese. I don't get kids fascination with that place??!! But, I guess it doesn't matter. That's what she wanted to do and she had a blast.

VP-26 command party
On Friday, TJ's command - VP-26 - sponsored a family fun day. There was a bouncy, a clown, all kinds of contests, a baseball game, food and an opportunity to go to the pool after. I didn't plan on going. I hate being outside in the middle of the day in Florida. I'm glad I went, it was fun.
The clown made balloon animals for the kids. I think the balloon animals lasted all of 5 minutes. They weren't too happy their balloons popped.
Brena and I participated in the 3-legged race. We didn't do too hot. Actually, no one did. They tied this thin string to your ankles, boy did it hurt when you tried to walk! Brena was crying (and me too!) after one hop, so I didn't make her finish.
Face painting. Brena got a butterfly that melted off not too long after it was put on.

Brena in the hula-hoop contest. She would have won, but for some reason at the very beginning she dropped her hula hoop, then started again. The guy actually was giving her the prize ($10 to Toys R' Us) because she was the last hula hooping kid. I had to run up there and tell him she had dropped hers in the beginning. She was very upset at me for doing that. Teaching your kids honesty is no easy task!

Word of wisdom from Brenalee
I've had lots of visitors at my house the last two weeks - it's been great! But, of course I'm behind on my blogging. I had to post this before I forgot it. Saturday night we were driving home and the funniest conversation happened in the backseat. It went like this:
Kayleigh (my niece): I want to go swimming tomorrow.
Brenalee: We don't go swimming on Sunday.
Kayleigh: Why?
Brenalee: Because God doesn't want us to.
Kayleigh: Why?
Brenalee: Because you make one bad choice and you're done!
Oh my gosh, we are still laughing about that comment! If you think about it - how wonderful is it that that statement isn't true? Can you imagine if we only got to make one bad choice and that was the end of things for us? How grateful I am for a loving Father in Heaven who provided a Savior for us so when we do make that one bad choice...er...those many bad choices we can repent and not be "done."
